West Hartford, Conn. - The University of Hartford women's tennis team hosted the College of the Holy Cross on Wednesday evening in its first dual match of the 2007 season. The Crusaders showed up ready to play and bested Hartford 7-0 for the win.
The Crusaders took all three matches from Hartford in a 3-0 win during doubles. In No. 1 doubles Kristen Meahl and Meg Moran paired up to take down Raquel Casino and Kasey Michels in an 8-4 victory. Hailee Lange and Paige Brown were also paired up to take their win 8-1.
Holy Cross went undefeated in the singles play. Kristen Meahl took on Raquel Casino in the No. 1 singles match where she started off rough but played well for a come from behind win 7-5, 6-2. In the No. 2 singles Meg Moran competed hard in a tough match up against Kasey Michels of Hartford. In a hard played match by both opponents Moran outplayed Michels to win in a tiebreaker 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), (11-9). Holy Cross played well to defeat Hartford in the remainder singles play.
Holy Cross will travel to Loudonville, N.Y., September 29th for the Siena Invitational. They will compete the 29th and 30th, with the start time set for 8:00 a.m.
