HC Falls To Providence, 4-3

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Holy Cross women's tennis team fell to Providence, 4-3, on Wednesday. The Crusaders are 0-1 overall, while the Friars improve to 2-1. Junior Kristen Meahl (Falmouth, Maine), freshman Emily Marr (Holden, Mass.) and freshman Carolyn Chandley (Worcester, Mass.) each won their singles matches for Holy Cross.

In the No. 1 singles match, Meahl defeated Ayushi Sinha in straight sets, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, while in the No. 3 singles match, Marr defeated Meg Gilroy in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1. Chandley won the No. 5 singles match over Liz Gillis, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2. Chandley and Marr earned a win in the No. 2 doubles match by defeating Jenn Cusack and Gilroy, 8-1.

The Crusaders return to action when they play the first match on the new Holy Cross Tennis Courts, when they meet Merrimack on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 2:00 p.m.
