Holy Cross Women's Tennis Competes At Wheaton Invitational

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Junior Kristen Meahl (Falmouth, Maine), freshman Emily Marr (Holden, Mass.) and junior Hailee Lange (Miami, Fla.) each earned second place finishes, as the Holy Cross women's tennis team competed at the Wheaton Invitational on March 29.
At No. 1 singles, Meahl defeated Lily Osowski of Roger Williams in the first round, 6-4, 6-1, while she fell to Catherine Teague of Wheaton in the championship match, 6-2, 6-3. In the No. 2 singles competition, Marr took the first round match with Marcia Gilbride of Bentley by scores of 6-3, 6-2, while she was defeated by Sarah Geocaris of Wheaton in the championship round, 6-1, 6-4. At the No. 3 singles, Lange defeated Jill Mackey of Roger Williams, 6-2, 6-1, and then fell to Ellen Mader of Bentley in the finals, 6-2, 7-6.
Freshman Carolyn Chandley (Worcester, Mass.) and junior Ivette Konopka (Shelton, Conn.) competed in the No. 1 doubles competition, as they fell to Andrea Hollot and Kara Murphy of Bentley in the first round, 8-6, while they defeated Caitlin Osepchuk and Leah Ribchinsky of Roger Williams by a score of 8-5 in the consolation match. The doubles team of senior Paige Brown (Huntington, N.Y.) and freshman Emma Rudnik (Lake Bluff, Ill.) lost in the first round at No. 2 doubles to Rosalyn Chesky and Allesandra DiOrio of Wheaton, 8-6, while they earned a third place finish by defeating Kristin Dono and Katie Wilmes of Roger Williams, 9-7.
The Crusaders return to action on Wednesday, April 1, when they play American International at 3:30 p.m., at the Holy Cross Tennis Courts.
