Women’s Tennis Defeats St. Anselm, 8-1

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Holy Cross women's tennis team won five singles matches and three doubles tilts as it defeated St. Anslem, 8-1, on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Crusaders improve to 5-8 on the season.

Holy Cross sophomore No. 1 singles player Taylor Stathis (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) defeated Alie Lawrence, 6-0, 6-3, as freshman No. 2 singles player Jaclyn Carroll (Tewksbury, Mass.) topped Katie Morrissey, 6-3, 6-2. Both Stathis and Carroll won their No. 1 doubles match over Lawrence and Morrissey, 8-3.

Crusaders freshman Cassy Deng (Eden Prairie, Minn.) won her No. 5 tilt over Julie Rohnstruck, 6-1, 6-1, as senior captain Jessica DeSimone (Lincoln, R.I.) claimed the 6-2, 6-1 victory over Leah Fitzgerald in No. 6 singles.

Holy Cross returns to action on Sunday, April 21, as it will travel to Brandeis for a 12:00 p.m. match.
