Women’s Tennis Falls To Sacred Heart, 7-0

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's tennis team dropped its final home match of the 2012-2013 season as it was defeated by Sacred Heart, 7-0, at the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 7-9 overall, while the Crusaders slip to 4-8 on the season.

Holy Cross struggled versus Sacred Heart as it did not win a game in any match during the afternoon. In doubles matches, the Crusaders No. 2 pair of junior Maya Welch (Rye, N.Y.) and freshman Abby Henry (Wellesley, Mass.) were defeated by Katie DeRienzo and Lindsay Post, 8-4. Holy Cross senior captain Jessica DeSimone (Lincoln, R.I.) and junior Katie McKenna (Longmeadow, Mass.) lost their No. 3 doubles tilt to Paige Olson and Alyssa Migliorini, 8-3.

Holy Cross sophomore No. 1 singles player Taylor Stathis (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) lost her match versus Gabi Kaldan, 6-1, 6-1.

The Crusaders return to action on Sunday, April 14, as they will travel to Manchester, N.H. to take on the St. Anselm at 2:00 p.m.
