WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's tennis team returned to form against Endicott, topping the Gulls 5-2 for its seventh win in eight matches at the Holy Cross Tennis Courts. With the decision, the Crusaders register a record of 9-2 overall while the Gulls go to 15-3. Freshman Taylor Stathis (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) highlighted the day, competing in her first-collegiate No. 1 singles match and came out on top, winning in straight sets.
Holy Cross took the doubles point as Stathis and sophomore Molly Montgomery (Winnetka, Ill.) paired up to take the No. 1 match, 8-2. Seniors Carolyn Chandley (Worcester, Mass.) and Emily Marr (Jefferson, Mass.) sealed the point with an 8-6 victory in No. 2 doubles.
Stathis, Marr and Chandley also won their respective singles events. Stathis won out 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 while Marr won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3. Chandley earned a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 4 and fellow senior Emma Rudnik (Lake Bluff, Ill.) completed the Crusaders' win with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the No. 6 singles match.
Holy Cross returns to action on Tuesday, April 10 when it competes against in-state opponent Wheaton. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Clark Tennis Courts in Norton, Mass.
