EASTON, Mass. – Senior Emily Marr (Jefferson, Mass.) won her No. 3 singles match but the Holy Cross women's tennis team fell in all other matches, dropping an 8-1 decision at Division II Stonehill at the Charles Watt Tennis Courts. With the win, the Crusaders fall to a record of 8-2 overall while Stonehill goes to 6-3.
The Seahawks won all three doubles matches as the duo of sophomore Molly Montgomery (Winnetka, Ill.) and freshman Taylor Stathis (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) put up a fight but lost, 8-5. Montgomery and Stathis also battled in their singles matches, playing to extra games but losing by the exact same score, 7-5, 6-4. Marr won her match in three sets, posting a 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 victory. Stonehill won the final three matches in straight sets to earn the 8-1 win.
Holy Cross returns to action on Sunday, March 25 when it competes in the Wheaton Doubles Invitational. Competition is set for 10:00 a.m. at the Clark Tennis Courts in Norton, Mass.
