Women's Tennis Looks To Stay Hot Over Week

  • The Holy Cross women's tennis team hits the road for two contests this upcoming week. The Crusaders will first travel to annual competitor, Hartford, on Tuesday, Oct. 4 before heading across town to play Assumption on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Both matches will start at 3:30 p.m. as Tuesday's match will take place at the Hartford Tennis Courts while Wednesday's match is on the Assumption Tennis Courts.
  • Holy Cross and Hartford have met nine times in the last six seasons. The Crusaders are 7-2 in the nine matches as the Hawks won both meetings in the 2010-2011 season. The team lost by identical 4-3 scores last season. Hartford is currently 1-1 on the season, topping Springfield and losing to common opponent Providence. The team is led by new head coach Mike Louis.
  • Assumption reenters the Crusaders' schedule after two seasons. The Crusaders last played the Greyhounds on Oct. 18, 2008, winning 8-1. Current seniors Carolyn Chandley (Worcester, Mass.) and Emily Marr (Jefferson, Mass.) won their respective singles matches. Assumption is currently 1-4 in dual match play, losing its last four matches.
  • The Crusaders won back-to-back dual matches for the second time this fall after last week's action. The last time the team won four of its five matches was in the spring of 2009. That year the team won against Springfield, Bryant, AIC and Patriot League opponent Lafayette while losing to Army. The 2008-2009 squad finished with a record of 10-8.
