Crusaders Set To Host Clark This Weekend

  • The Holy Cross women's tennis team returns to action on Saturday, March 19 when it hosts Clark for the first home game of the spring season. The match, to be held on the Holy Cross Tennis Courts, is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.  
  • Clark played Assumption in its spring opener, winning a 6-3 decision this past Saturday after going 4-8 in the fall portion of its season. No. 1 singles player, freshman Gaby Suriano, is 9-1 in dual-match play this season. She has also won her last five matches in the No. 1 singles spot.
  • Holy Cross head coach Lisa Meola is a1998 graduate of Clark and also began her tennis coaching career there in 2004. This will be the first time in the 2000's that Holy Cross and Clark have matched-up. Holy Cross has collected an 8-2 record against Division III squads in its last 10 meetings. The Crusaders are 0-2 against Division III squads this season, dropping decisions to Trinity and Bowdoin.
  • The No. 2 double team of freshman Maya Welch (Rye, N.Y.) and junior Carolyn Chandley (Worcester, Mass.) broke through for their first win of the season, beating out Lafayette on March 26. The two improve to 1-3 in No. 2 doubles matches this season.
