WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Holy Cross women's tennis team was swept by Army, 7-0, to open up Patriot League action at the Lichtenberg Tennis Courts. With the final tally, the Crusaders go to a record of 0-7 (0-1 PL) on the overall season while the Black Knights improve to a record of 15-7 (1-0 PL).
The Black Knights swept all doubles matches as the No. 1 duo of Molly Montgomery (Winnetka, Ill.) and junior Emily Marr (Jefferson, Mass.) lost the closest match, 8-3. Army took down the Crusaders in straight sets in all singles categories as well. Junior Emma Rudnik (Lake Bluff, Ill.) gathered two games in the first set at No. 6 singles, but fell 6-2, 6-0.
Holy Cross returns to action this evening against its second conference opponent, Lafayette. Match time is set for 8:00 p.m. at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center in West Point, N.Y.
