WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr. and head coach Lisa Meola announced the Holy Cross women's tennis 2011 spring slate today. The team will jump start the season on Feb. 19, playing against Sacred Heart in New Haven, Conn., on Yale's tennis courts.
The Sacred Heart contest serves as the only match in the month of February, as the team will then open up its home slate against Clark on March 19. Patriot League competition begins on March 25 against Lafayette on Army's home courts in West Point N.Y. The squad will also play against Army and Lehigh that same weekend, taking on the Black Knights on March 26 and the Mountain Hawks on March 27.
Six matches follow in the month of April, beginning on April 5 with an afternoon contest at Hartford. The team will then host Bryant at the Holy Cross Tennis Courts on April 6 before traveling for its last four matches, playing at Springfield (April 11), at Endicott (April 13), at Connecticut College (April 16) and wrapping up the regular season at Wesleyan (April 20). The Patriot League Tournament will be held from April 22-24. Navy is this year's host, as all matches will be played at the Dyer Tennis Clubhouse in Annapolis, Md.
The Crusaders finished the fall slate with an overall record of 0-5 and welcome back junior captain Carolyn Chandley (Worcester, Mass.) who returns to the team after studying abroad over the fall semester.
