Women's Tennis Set To Host Final Match Of The Fall

Worcester, Mass., 3:00 p.m.
- The Holy Cross women's tennis team will play in its final match
of the fall when they host Hartford on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 3:00
p.m. The men's team will also play Hartford at the exact same
time at the Holy Cross Tennis Courts in Worcester,
- The Crusaders look to end their fall slate on a strong note, as
they aim for their first win. The Hawks come to Worcester with a
0-1 record in dual match play, having lost to Siena in late
September. Holy Cross won both meetings last year, including a 5-2
victory last fall and currently own a six-game win streak against
the Hawks, dating back to the 2004 fall season.
- Junior Emily Marr
Mass.) is the one of two players
on the current roster to post a win against the Hawks. Last fall,
Marr took a 6-1, 6-1 straight-set victory at No. 3 singles. She
also won in straight sets in the spring, recording a 6-2, 6-0 final
tally. Junior Lauren Evans
Calif.), who is currently
studying abroad, took a win at No. 6 singles, 8-3.
- Head coach Lisa Meola changed up her doubles lineup against
Bowdoin this past weekend. Freshman Molly Montgomery
Ill.) and Marr played together
for the first time at No. 1 doubles, falling 8-4. Freshman
Maya Welch (Rye,
N.Y.) and junior Emma Rudnik (Lake Bluff,
Ill.) also teamed up for the
first time at No. 2 doubles, dropping an 8-3 decision.
