Women's Tennis Faces New Opponents Over Week

  • The Holy Cross women's tennis team looks for its first dual match victory of the season against Trinity this week before traveling to West Point, N.Y., to participate in the Eastern Championship hosted by Army. This will be the first time the team has competed in the event.
  • The women continue fall dual match play against the Bantams starting at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22. The match will be held in Hartford, Conn. and serves as Trinity's first dual match competition this season after the opened up the season at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) New England Division III Regional Championship Tournament.  The Crusaders and Bantams have not faced off in the 21st century.
  • The team will then travel to a tournament hosted by Patriot League opponent Army on Friday through Sunday, Sept. 24-26. The massive 30-team event begins with doubles play on Friday and will conclude with singles finals on Sunday. Weather providing, matches will be played at both Malek Courts (outdoor) and state-of-the-art Lichtenberg Tennis Center (indoor) throughout the weekend. West Point is hosting the event for the 12th straight year.
  • The team came away with one point this past week, coming from junior Emily Marr (Jefferson, Mass.). Marr won the No. 2 singles match by defeating Siena's Danielle Crill, 6-4, 6-3. Marr now sits at 1-1 in singles action this season.
