Schedule: Saturday, Mar. 13 vs. Albany, Worcester, Mass., 11:00 a.m.

  • The Holy Cross women’s tennis team comes back after two weeks off from competition for its first home meet of the spring, hosting Albany on Saturday, March 14. The matches are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Tennis Courts in Worcester, Mass. The Albany contest will mark the second season of competition on the team’s newly renovated tennis courts. The team has posted a 9-5 record at home since the tennis courts were opened on October 5, 2008.
  • This is the third consecutive year of competition between the Crusaders and Great Danes. Holy Cross will aim for its first win in three seasons after Albany swept the squad 7-0 on Feb. 2, 2008 and again on Feb. 14, 2009.  Just like this season, Holy Cross played Albany in its second match of the spring last year.
  • The Crusaders currently stand at 0-1 in spring competition after falling to Sacred Heart, 7-0, on Feb. 20. The 2008-2009 team opened up the spring slate with a 1-1 record after topping Assumption and falling to Albany. The four-member senior class looks to post their first victories in their final season as Crusader tennis players as well. Kristen Meahl (Falmouth, Maine) has a 1-5 record this season as the team’s No. 1 singles player, while Ivette Konopka (Shelton, Conn.) has a 1-3 record at No. 3, Hailee Lange (Miami, Fla.) sits at 1-2 at No. 4 and Kathryn Wilkie (Oak Brook, Ill.) has won three of six matches in the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 spots thus far.
