Crusaders Look Forward To New England Championship

- The Holy Cross women's tennis team wraps up its fall slate
Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 17-18, at the New England Championship in
Fairfield, Conn. The matches both days are scheduled to begin at
- Holy Cross finished fourth of eight at last year's New England
Championship. Sophomore Carolyn Chandley (Worcester,
Mass.) finished second at No. 6 singles to lead the
Crusaders. Meahl placed fifth at No. 1 singles while senior
Ivette Konopka (Shelton, Conn.) took fifth at No.
5 singles. Sophomore Emily Marr (Jefferson, Mass.)
and Chandley teamed up for fourth at No. 2 doubles. Senior
Kathryne Wilkie (Oak Bluff, Ill.) and former
Crusader Paige Brown finished third at No. 3 doubles.
- The Crusaders are coming off their
second victory of the season, a 5-2 win over Merrimack at the Holy
Cross Tennis Courts in Worcester, Mass. on Oct. 8. Holy Cross won
four of six singles contests in that dual meet with Marr and
seniors Hailee Lange (Miami, Fla.), Konopka and
Wilkie tallying victories. The Crusaders also took the doubles
point with match victories for the teams of senior Kristen
Meahl (Falmouth, Maine) and Chandley, and sophomore
Emma Rudnik (Lake Bluff, Ill.) and Wilkie. Rudnik
and Wilkie have improved their record to 4-1 on the fall as a
doubles team, while the tandem of Konopka and Marr are 3-2. Wilkie
and Marr are both 3-2 in singles competition this season.
