Crusaders Host Merrimack In Final Dual Meet Of The Fall

- The Holy Cross women's tennis team is preparing for their final dual meet of the fall season when it hosts Merrimack on Thursday, Oct. 8 at the Holy Cross Tennis Courts. The matches are scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
- In their last dual-meet outing, the Crusaders were swept by Massachusetts, 7-0, on Oct. 1. On Oct. 4, they participated in the 25th annual Salve Regina Doubles Invitational in Newport, R.I. Holy Cross finished the event with six points, tying host Salve Regina for third place. The doubles team of senior Kristen Meahl (Falmouth, Maine) and sophomore Carolyn Chandley (Worcester, Mass.) went 2-1 in the event and won the Flight A Consolation Championship. Senior Ivette Konopka (Shelton, Conn.) and sophomore Emily Marr (Jefferson, Mass.) teamed up to win the Flight B Consolation Championship, also with a 2-1 record on the day. Senior Kathryn Wilkie (Oak Brook, Ill.) and sophomore Emma Rudnik (Lake Bluff, Ill.) lost in the semifinals of the Flight C draw and finished 1-1.
- Two pairs have emerged as solid doubles options for the Crusaders. The tandems of Konopka and Marr and Wilkie and Rudnik are both 3-1 on the season so far.
- Thursday's match will be the first between Holy Cross and Merrimack since Sept. 16, 2007. The Warriors were victorious, 5-4, in North Andover, Mass. The last Crusader win in the series was on Sept. 16, 2006 when Holy Cross was victorious, 7-2, in Worcester, Mass.
