Holy Cross Women's Tennis Upended By Siena, 5-2

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Sophomore Emily Marr (Jefferson, Mass.) and senior Kathryn Wilkie (Oak Brook, Ill.) won singles matches, and Marr and sophomore Emma Rudnik (Lake Bluff, Ill.) were victorious in doubles but it was not enough as Siena downed Holy Cross 5-2 in women's tennis at Central Park in Schenectady, N.Y. With the loss the Crusaders drop to 0-2 on the season while the Saints up their record to 2-0 overall.

Marr's victory came at No. 3 singles over Jessica Asselin, 7-5, 6-1. Wilkie came from behind to defeat Lauren Moy at No. 4 singles, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5. Marr and Rudnik won their No. 2 singles match over Moy and Asselin, 8-5, to round out the wins on the day for Holy Cross.

Siena was led by Jasleen Sandhu, who was victorious at No. 1 singles over senior Kristen Meahl (Falmouth, Maine), 6-2, 6-3. Sandhu, along with Danielle Crill and Nicole Ross, won both their singles and doubles matches for the Saints.

Holy Cross is next in action Tuesday, Sept. 22 when it travels to West Hartford, Conn. to battle Hartford. The match is set to start at 4:00 p.m.
