Ferris Named Patriot League Female Swimmer Of The Week

WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior Emily Ferris (Rockville Center, N.Y.) has been named the Patriot League Female Swimmer of the Week for her performances at the Worcester City Championships last weekend. In addition, Ferris has been named the Holiday Inn Express Crusader of the Week. Ferris won three events and was a member of four victorious relay teams as the Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team captured first place at the Worcester City Championship on Jan. 28-29 in a meet that also included Clark and WPI.

Ferris finished in first place in the 200 yard individual medley, the 100 yard backstroke and the 200 yard backstroke. She had times of 2:19.40 in the 200 IM, 1:03.49 in the 100 back and 2:16.04 in the 200 back.

Ferris also saw a leg on the 200 yard medley relay, 400 yard medley relay, 200 yard freestyle relay and 400 yard freestyle relay teams, all of which finished in first place. The 200 free relay, 400 free relay and 400 medley relay teams all set new meet records, with times of 1:43.57, 3:51.33 and 4:16.09, respectively. The 200 medley relay team finished with a time of 2:00.49.

Ferris is the first Holy Cross swimming and diving athlete to earn a weekly award in the Patriot League during the 2004-05 season.

The Crusaders return to action this Tuesday, February 1, when they travel to Connecticut for a 6:00 p.m. meet.
