WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore Maggie Gousman (Fanwood, N.J.) has been named the GoHolyCross.com Crusader of the Week, for competition from January 21-27. Gousman won three individual events and was a part of three winning relay teams last weekend, while winning Swimmer of the Meet honors as the Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team finished in first place at the Worcester City Championship.
On Friday, Gousman won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:17.40, while swimming a leg on the winning 400-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay teams. In the 400-yard medley relay, Holy Cross set a new Worcester City Championship meet record with a time of 4:11.32.
Then on Saturday, Gousman won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.53, and the 200-yard breaststroke in a meet-record time of 2:32.10. In addition, Gousman swam a leg on two more winning relay teams, in the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay. Holy Cross' 200-yard medley relay team set another meet record with a winning time of 1:54.22.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, February 2, when they play host to Providence at 3:00 p.m., in their final home meet of the season.
