KINGSTON, R.I. - Junior Maggie Gousman (Fanwood, N.J.) led the Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team with a first place and two third place finishes at the Harold Anderson Invitational hosted by the University of Rhode Island on Saturday, Dec. 6. The Crusaders took fifth out of six teams at the invitational.
Gousman took first place in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.36 and placed third in both the 200 IM with a time of 2:17.50 and the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:31.46. Also finishing in the top three for the Crusaders was freshman Annie O'Shea (Washington, D.C.) in the 200 fly. O'Shea touched the wall in third place in a time of 2:13.35. Freshman Maggie Beaudouin (Madison, N.J.) finished fourth in the 1000 free with a time of 10:57.70 and sixth in the 200 backstroke in 2:15.61.
On the diving board, junior Rachael Martinez (Chelmsford, Mass.) led the Crusaders with a second place finish on the three meter board with a score of 190.40, while freshman Lindsay Mlazgar (Bloomington, Minn.) finished fourth with a score of 156.80. On the one meter board Mlazgar finished fourth with a score of 161.95 and Martinez took sixth with a score of 150.25.
Holy Cross returns to action after the winter break when it takes on Central Connecticut and Vermont on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009 in Worcester, Mass. at the Hart Center.
