Kingston, R.I - The Holy Cross men's and women's swimming and diving teams were back in the pool this weekend after a two week break, taking on some strong competition at the Harold Anderson Invitational hosted by URI. The women's team would take fifth place overall, beating Fairfield by over 100 points. The men's team would also take fifth, but the margin of defeat was only 15 points over Fairfield. Rhode Island took the men's meet with 821 total points, where Main won the women's meet with 847. Two freshmen made an impact for the Holy Cross women's team: Maggie Gousman (Fanwood, N.J.) and Rachael Martinez (Chelmsford, Mass.) both won events for the Crusaders. On the men's team, it was a combination of youth and experience that led the team.

Gousman would also see success in the 200 yard breaststroke, finishing second with a time of 2:30.68. Martinez won the 3M diving event with 191.50 total points over six dives. She narrowly edged out a diver from URI by only 6.35 points.

In the men's meet, senior Brian Jackson (Phoenixville, Pa.) and freshman Aaron Brosnan (Westford, Mass.) would tie for being the highest finishing Crusader. Both finished fourth in their respective events. In the 200 yard butterfly, Jackson would finish in 2:08.12, which was slightly faster than Brosnan, who finished in fifth. Bronson finished fourth in the 100 yard backstroke, taking 59.29 to complete the event.
