Worcester, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team dropped a dual meet to Central Connecticut State and Vermont on Sunday afternoon. The Crusaders fell 200-95 to the Blue Devils and 186-110 to the Catamounts.
Senior Emily Ferris (Rockville Center, N.Y.) led the Crusaders with a second place finish in the 100 and 200-meter backstroke events. Ferris swam in times of 1:01.90 and 2:15.50, respectively.
Sophomore Andrea Doherty (Needham, Mass.) swam to two third places finishes in the 100-meter butterfly (1:02.40) and the 200-meter freestyle (2:03.34).
Two other individuals took third place in their respective events: Freshman Maddie Alanis (La Jolla, Calif.) in the 200-meter breaststroke and sophomore Erica Archer (Schenectady, N.Y.) in the 100-meter freestyle.
In the 400-meter freestyle relay, Holy Cross took second place. A team consisting of sophomore Amanda Dugan (Saddie River, N.J.), freshman Mary-Elizabeth Maher (Milford, Mass.), freshman Caitlin Duggan (Norwood, Mass.) and sophomore Kathleen Horohoe (Londonderry, N.H.) finished in a time of 3:47.88.
The Crusader women will compete again next Saturday, January 21 when they travel to Fairfield University for a 1:00 p.m. meet.
