Women's Swimming & Diving Begins PL Championship Competition

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The women's swimming and diving team completed the first full day of competition on Thursday at the 2014 Patriot League Championship after opening the four-day event on Wednesday afternoon.  Fourteen Crusaders Fourteen Crusaders took to the pool this morning for preliminary heats of three separate events.

Freshman Colleen Harrison (Lake Forest, Ill.) led the Crusaders in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:21.10, freshman Alicia Perry (Sudbury, Mass.) was the top HC finisher in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:15.46 and junior Mary Kate Schulte (Des Moines, Iowa) touched the wall first for Holy Cross in the 50-yard freestyle at 25.80. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Harrison, senior Kelsey Poremba (Bedford, N.H.), freshman Gina DeFloria (Greensburg, Pa.) and Schulte also added a 10th place finish with a time of 1:40.13.

On Wednesday, the 200-yard medley relay team comprised of freshmen Kaitlin Jacob (New Milford, Conn.), DeFloria and Jessie Cashman (Haddonfield, N.J.) and Schulte finished ninth with a time of 1:50.89 while the 800-yard freestyle relay team of Harrison, Perry, freshman Kristin Lane (White Plains, N.Y.) and Coleman took 10th at 8:01.21. Junior diver Alicia LiCalzi (New Canaan, Conn.) also represented Holy Cross in the three-meter dive, finishing 19th with a score of 156.95. 

The women's swimming and diving team will continue action at the 2014 Patriot League Championship tomorrow, Feb. 21, at 10:30 a.m.
