SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team traveled to Bryant on Saturday afternoon and fell to the Bulldogs by a final score of 174-82. Freshman Marielle Pavek (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) led the way with two third place finishes as the Crusaders earned seven top-three finishes.
Pavek swam the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle in times of 25.28 and 56.27, respectively. Freshman Kristin Lane (White Plains, N.Y.) finished third in the 1,000 free (11:32.64), freshman Colleen Harrison (Lake Forest, Ill.) took third in the 500 free (5:31.42) and freshman Alicia Perry (Sudbury, Mass.) touched the wall third in the 200 IM (2:19.60).
The 400 freestyle relay team comprised of Pavek, Harrison and freshmen Gina DeFloria (Greensburg, Pa.) and Kristie Coleman (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished second at 3:48.57 and the 400 medley relay team of Cashman, DeFloria, Perry and Pavek took third at 4:16.16.
The women's swimming and diving team will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the Patriot League Championship. The meet is scheduled to span four days from Feb. 19-22 at Navy.
