Women's Swimming & Diving To Host Providence

  • The Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team will return to the Hart Center this weekend for its final home meet of the season on Saturday, Jan. 25, versus Providence at 1:00 p.m.
  • Last season, the Crusaders fell to Providence on the road. Graduate Katelyn Desrosiers led the squad with a third place finish in the 100 breaststroke. Junior Anna Villani (Hanover, Mass.) also finished third in the 200-yard butterfly.
  • The Crusaders are coming off a second place finish at the Worcester City Championship. Freshman Marielle Pavek (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) led the team with first place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyles. She was also a member of the 200, 400 and 800-yard freestyle relay teams that earned first place finishes. For her performances, Pavek received the Cathy Desrosiers Award for Female Swimmer of the Meet.
  • Prior to the meet this Saturday, head coach Barry Parenteau and assistant coaches Wil Aybar and Ian Hennessey will honor the team's three seniors for their hard work and dedication to the women's swimming and diving team. The seniors include Eileen McGowan (Winston-Salem, N.C.), Cassandra Perry (Sudbury, Mass.) and Kelsey Poremba (Bedford, N.H.).
  • The team recently returned home from its annual winter training trip, this year located in Key Largo, Fla. The team practiced at the Jacobs Aquatic Center from January 8-14. To read a blog about the team's training trip, click here.
