CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The women's swimming and diving team traveled to the New England Catholic Invitational on Friday and Saturday, hosted by Boston College. Freshman Marielle Pavek (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) led the team with two individual third place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyles with times of 24.77 and 54.36, respectively. Pavek also finished ninth in the 200 freestyle, touching the wall at 2:01.67, and was a member of the third place 400 freestyle relay team (3:45.10) and sixth place 200 freestyle relay team (1:43.43).
Other members of the 400 free relay team included freshmen Colleen Harrison (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Alicia Perry (Sudbury, Mass.) and junior Mary Kate Schulte (Des Moines, Iowa) while Pavek was joined on the 200 free relay team by freshman Kristen Lane (White Plains, N.Y.), Perry and Schulte. Freshman Gina DeFloria (Greensburg, Pa.) finished seventh in the 200 breaststroke at 2:38.15 while Perry added two top-10 finishes of her own in the 500 freestyle (5:23.91, 8th) and 200 butterfly (2:18.87, 9th).
DeFloria added an 11th place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.88. Harrison also finished 11th in the 1,000 freestyle at 11:24.60. Lane finished just behind Harrison in the event, taking 13th with a time of 11:26.55.
On the diving side, junior Alicia LiCalzi (New Canaan, Conn.) led the Crusaders with a sixth place finish in the three-meter dive with a score of 166.60 and 10th place finish in the one-meter dive with a score of 166.40.
The women's swimming and diving team will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 23, for its first home meet of the season. The Crusaders will welcome Siena to the Hart Center for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
