Women's Swimming & Diving Set For Worcester City Championship This Weekend

Schedule: Friday-Saturday, Jan. 18-19, at Worcester City Championship, Worcester, Mass., 6:00 p.m. (Fri.), 10:00 a.m./4:00 p.m. (Sat.) 

  • The Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team will return to the pool at the Worcester City Championship this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 18-19, hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
  • The Crusaders hosted the WCC last season and finished first in the team scoring with 648 points. Assumption finished second (446) while Clark took third (310) and WPI finished fourth (278). Graduate Maggie Beaudouin was named Swimmer of the Meet, finishing first in the 400 individual medley (4:46.98), 100 backstroke (1:02.24) and 200 backstroke (2:11.85). The times in the 400 IM and 200 back were both new Worcester City Championship records. Seniors Kristen Desrosiers (Gorham, Maine)Natalie Livingston (Auburn, Wash.) and Katelyn Desrosiers (Gorham, Maine) and junior Kelsey Poremba (Bedford, N.H.) all added first place finishes in their respective events. The Crusaders have won the title in all 11 years of the meet.
  • Holy Cross is finishing up a winter training trip to Key Largo, Fla. The team headed south on Jan. 8 and is training at the Jacob's Aquatic Center. To view the team's daily blog, click here.
