ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team opened day one of the Patriot League Championship at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. on Thursday. Junior Kristen Desrosiers (Gorham, Maine) was the top finisher for the Crusaders in the preliminary heats landing in a tie for 18th with a time of 2:10.82 in the 200 yard IM.
Other top finishers for the Crusaders included junior Gina Mannix (Larchmont, N.Y.) who finished 23rd in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:15.93 followed by senior Annie O'Shea (Washington, D.C.) who finished at 5:16.94. Freshman Mary Kate Schulte (Des Moines, Iowa) swam to a 31st place finish in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.41.
On the diving side, senior Lindsay Mlazgar (Bloomington, Minn.) took 16th in the three-meter dive with a score of 173.25. The 400 yard medley relay and 200 yard freestyle relay teams each finished in eighth place with times of 4:07.72 and 1:40.71, respectively.
Navy holds the lead after one day of competition with 259 points. The Patriot League Championship continues tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 17, with the preliminary heats beginning at 10:00 a.m.
