SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team suffered a 201-60 loss on the road at Bryant Saturday afternoon. Junior Kristen Desrosiers (Gorham, Maine) took first in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:58.14 and junior Samantha Hullihen (Pelham, N.H.) earned the top spot in the 50 yard butterfly finishing with a time of 27.23 to lead the Crusaders. Hullihen also finished second in the 100 yard butterfly by one-tenth of a second finishing with a time of 1:00.79
Both of the top 200 yard medley and 200 yard freestyle relay teams for Holy Cross finished third in their respective events. The medley team consisted of sophomore Megan Marrkand (Westford, Mass.), junior Natalie Livingston (Auburn, Wash.), Hullihen and senior Maggie Beaudouin (Madison, N.J.) and finished with a time of 1:58.34 while the freestyle team was made up of junior Laura Webber (Hampden, Mass.), freshman Mary Kate Schulte (Des Moines, Iowa), Desrosiers and sophomore Kelsey Poremba (Bedford, N.H.) and finished at 1:47.90.
The women's swimming and diving team returns to the pool for the final competition of the season Feb. 16-18 at the Patriot League Championship.
