WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team fell to Providence at the Hart Center on senior day, 192-102. Senior Annie O'Shea (Washington, D.C.) finished first in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:17.74 and junior Kristen Desrosiers (Gorham, Maine) finished first in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:17.18 to lead the Crusaders.
The Holy Cross 400 yard freestyle relay team also took the top spot in the 31st event of the meet. Comprised of freshman Mary Kate Schulte (Des Moines, Iowa), junior Laura Webber (Hampden, Mass.), junior Gina Mannix (Larchmont, N.Y.) and senior Maggie Beaudouin (Madison, N.J.), the relay team finished with a time of 3:54.43 and added 11 points to the Crusaders total score.
On the diving side, Senior Lindsay Mlazgar (Bloomington, Minn.) took first in the three-meter competition with a score of 215.54 and finished second in the one-meter dive with a score of 185.55. Sophomore Katie Luther (Omaha, Nebraska) finished second on three-meter with a 172.72 and third on the one-meter with a 180.23.
Competing in their final meet at the Hart Center were 11 seniors including O'Shea, Beaudouin, Mlazgar, Colleen Bucci (Falmouth, Maine), Monica Cullen (Maplewood, N.J.), Emily D'Angelo (West Caldwell, N.J.), Carolynn Fitzgerald (Belle Harbor, N.Y.), Christine Karout (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Kendra Kline (Queensbury, N.Y.), Lauren Leary (North Eastham, Mass.) and Madison Walsh (Ridgefield, Conn.). Swimming and diving head coach Barry Parenteau, diving coach Wilson Aybar and assistant coach Ian Hennessey honored the seniors in a ceremony prior to the meet.
Holy Cross women's swimming and diving returns to competition on Feb. 4 when it travels to Smithfield, R.I. to take on Bryant at 1:00 pm.
