WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team was selected to finish eighth in the 2010 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. Last season's Patriot League champion, Navy, was selected first with 14 first place votes and 98 points. The Mids secured their 10th league crown and first since 2007 with 887 points at the 2010 Championship.
Bucknell, last year's runner-up, was selected second with two first place votes and 81 points, while Colgate, the 2009 champion, was voted third with 79 points. Lehigh was selected fourth with 53 points, Army fifth with 52 points and American sixth with 39 points. Lafayette and Holy Cross rounded out the poll in seventh and eighth place with 31 and 15 points respectively.
Holy Cross will kick off the 2010-2011 season on Friday, Oct. 15 when it hosts Fairfield in a dual meet at the Hart Center.
