Women's Swimming & Diving Defeats Providence

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team won ten events Saturday afternoon as it defeated Providence at the Hart Center. Seniors Maggie Gousman (Fanwood, N.J.), Alisha Carrazza (Boonton Township, N.J.) and Rachael Martinez (Chelmsford, Mass.) each won an event as the Crusaders celebrated senior day prior to the start of the meet.

Gousman, Carrazza, sophomore Annie O'Shea (Washington, D.C.) and junior Gael Carter (Tampa, Fla.) teamed up to take first in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:12.29. Gousman then went on to win the 100 breast with a time of 1:10.46 and the 200 breast with a time of 2:32.46, while Martinez took first on the one meter board with a score of 175.87.  

Sophomore Maggie Beaudouin (Madison, N.J.) led the Crusaders with victories in the 1,000 free (11:18.81) and the 200 back (2:15.80). O'Shea took home two first place finishes, one in the 200 fly (2:16.12) and the second in the 100 fly (1:02.46). Carter placed first in the 100 back with a time of 1:03.22 and rookie Kristen Desrosiers (Gorham, Maine) finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:20.24.

Holy Cross will take some time off to prepare for the Patriot League Championship on Feb. 18-20 in Annapolis, Md.
