Holy Cross Set To Host Providence, Honor Seniors

  • The Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team will host its last meet of the season on Saturday, Jan. 30 against Providence at 1:00 p.m. The Crusaders will honor their senior class prior to the start of the meet.
  • Last season the Crusaders defeated the Friars 176-124 in Providence, R.I. Senior Maggie Gousman (Fanwood, N.J.) finished first in three individual events and one relay to lead the team to victory.
  • Holy Cross swept the relay events and finished first in 11 individual events as it claimed its ninth Worcester City Championship title last weekend. Gousman successfully defended her title in the 100 breast with a time of 1:10.22 and in the 200 breast with a time of 2:33.48. Gousman won both events all four years of her career. Holy Cross kicked off the meet with a win in the 400 medley relay. The team of junior Gael Carter (Tampa, Fla.), Gousman, sophomore Annie O'Shea (Washington, D.C.) and senior Alisha Carrazza (Boonton Township, N.J.) finished in first place with a new meet record time of 4:09.16.
  • Seniors Gousman, Carrazza, Rachael Martinez (Chelmsford, Mass.), Lauren Tatro (Charlotte, N.C.) and Alyson Young (Maplewood, N.J.) will be honored prior to the start of the meet on Jan. 30 for their commitment to the swimming and diving program.
