Crusaders Open Season At Hart Center

  • The Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team will take a week off before hosting Siena at the Hart Center on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 7:00 p.m.
  • The Crusaders opened the season with a home meet against Patriot League opponent Lehigh and wrapped up the weekend with a road competition at Fairfield. Against Lehigh, senior Maggie Gousman (Fanwood, N.J.) led the Crusaders with a first place finish in the 50 free with a time of 25.63. Gousman's time was the fifth fastest 50 free amongst current members of the Holy Cross swim team. Senior Alisha Carrazza (Boonton Township, N.J.) owns the fastest time with a time of 24.74 at the 2007 Patriot League Championship.
  • Against Fairfield, Holy Cross swept the diving events with senior Rachael Martinez (Chelmsford, Mass.) leading the way in both events. On the one meter board, Martinez took first with 185.68 points, while sophomore Lindsay Mlazgar (Bloomington, Minn.) finished second with 160.75 points and junior Sarah Kearns (Marion, Mass.) in third with 158.48 points. On the three meter board Martinez finished first with 201.98 points, Mlazgar second with 167.93 and Kearns third with 163.95.
  • Martinez has been the top Holy Cross performer in all diving events she has entered in her career with her top scoring dive on the one meter board at the 2008 Worcester City Championship with a score of 240.21 and her top score on the three meter board in 2006 against Army with a score of 236.93.
