Lally & Elliott Earn Patriot League All-League Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross senior right fielder Megan Lally (Lake Forest, Calif.) and sophomore center fielder Jayme Elliott (Gardena, Calif.) have been named to the 2006 Patriot League Softball All-League Second Team, as announced today.

Lally ranked first on the team offensively with a .361 batting average, 44 hits, 14 doubles, three triples, .623 slugging percentage and .451 on base percentage, while she was tied for first in runs scored (21) and in home runs (4), as she played in 42 of the 44 games with 40 starts. Lally's .623 slugging percentage is a new school single season record, while her 14 doubles rank as the second best single-season performance in school-history and her 19 walks is third. She was ranked second in the Patriot League in slugging percentage and in doubles, while she was third in on base percentage. Lally concluded her career as the all-time home runs leader at Holy Cross with 13 and walks leader with 56.

Sophomore Jayme Elliott received Patriot League Second Team accolades.

Elliott led the team in sacrifice hits (13) and stolen bases (8), while she was tied with Lally for first in runs scored (21). Her 13 sacrifice hits were ranked second in the Patriot League and 21st nationally, while her eight stolen bases were fifth in the conference. Offensively she was second on the team in batting average (.295) and hits (36) as she played in 40 of the 44 games with 40 starts. In Patriot League games Elliott hit .315 with 12 runs and five runs batted in, while she had a strong defensive year with a .968 overall fielding percentage. Elliott only struck out five times in 122 at bats, ranking her first in the Patriot League and 10th nationally. This marks the second time that Elliott has been named to the All-League Team as she was named to the first team last season as a freshman.
