Holy Cross Softball Concludes 2009 Season

  • The Holy Cross softball team concluded the season with a victory over Central Connecticut on Tuesday, April 28. The Crusaders defeated the Blue Devils in the night cap to finish the season with an overall record of 13-34. Sophomore Sam Lenhardt (Duxbury, Mass.) was five for seven against Central Connecticut with one RBI, two stolen bases and one run scored. Lenhardt finishes the 2009 season with a perfect 1.000 (12-12) stolen base percentage. Her .368 batting average leads the team as does her .400 on base percentage.

 

  • Sophomore Keeley Seniuk (Phoenix, Ariz.) was named to the All-Patriot League second team as an outfielder. Seniuk finished the season with a .319 batting average and she led the team with a .489 slugging percentage. She led Holy Cross with 19 runs, 43 hits and 25 RBI. Her 12 doubles are tied for second in the Patriot League. This is the first All-Patriot League honor for Seniuk.

 

  • Junior Mandy Correale (Peabody, Mass.) was named to the All-Patriot League second team at third base. Correale finished the season with a .265 batting average and a .932 fielding percentage. Correale was second on the team with 35 hits, her six doubles were third and her five sacrifice bunts led the Crusaders. This is the first All-Patriot League honor for Correale.

 

  • The Crusaders completed the season with an overall 13-34 record, the best since the 2003 season, and a 6-14 Patriot League record. Holy Cross completed its spring break trip to Kissimmee, Fla. with an overall record of 5-7, winning the last four games of the tournament. The five victories at the Rebel Spring Games is the best season-opening record for the Crusaders in the past five years. Holy Cross finished the season with a school record 101 stolen bases.
