WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross versus Providence softball doubleheader, scheduled for Tuesday, May 2, at 3:00 p.m., at Freshman Field, has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The Crusaders conclude the 2006 season with a 9-35 overall record and a 4-16 mark in the Patriot League.
Senior outfielder Megan Lally (Lake Forest, Calif.) ranked first on the team offensively with a .361 batting average, 44 hits, 14 doubles, three triples, .623 slugging percentage and .451 on base percentage, while she was tied for first with sophomore center fielder Jayme Elliott (Gardena, Calif.) in runs (21) and sophomore Kelly O'Neil (White Plains, N.Y.) in home runs (4). Lally's .623 slugging percentage is a new school single season record, while her 14 doubles ranks as the second best single-season performance in school-history and her 19 walks is third. She is ranked second in the Patriot League in slugging percentage and in doubles, while she is third in on base percentage. Lally concludes her career as the all-time home runs leader at Holy Cross with 13 and walks leader with 56.
Senior pitcher Marsha Babcock (Ridgefield, Conn.) led the Crusaders on the mound as she led the team in ERA (3.12), wins (4) complete games (7), innings pitched (110.0) and opposing batting average (.282). Her ERA is fifth in the Patriot League.
