Worcester, Mass. - Freshman Jayme Elliott (Gardena, Calif.) was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for games the week of March 28-April 3. The weekly recognition is the first for any softball player from Holy Cross this season.
The shortstop led the team last weekend, batting .400 over four games against Army. One of her four hits went for extra bases as she doubled in game two on Sunday. Elliott's two RBIs won the game for the Crusaders on Friday night as Holy Cross was down a run in the bottom of the seventh, she hit a two-run single to drive in the game-tying and -winning runs for a final score of 9-8.
Elliott leads all rookies and his ranked third overall in the conference, with a batting average of .415. She is also tops in Patriot League games in hits (13) and is ranked third overall in on base percentage (.475).
