WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr. and head softball coach Brian Claypool have announced the Crusaders' 2009 softball schedule. Holy Cross will open the season on Mar. 1 at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla.
The Crusaders will travel to Kissimmee, Fla. for a twelve game spring tournament Mar. 1-7 and then continue competition on the road, traveling to Bryant on Mar. 17 for a doubleheader and Brown on Mar. 18 for a single-game. Holy Cross will travel to Stony Brook, N.Y., for the Stony Brook Invitational on Mar. 21-22, facing Stony Brook on Mar. 21 and then taking on Quinnipiac and Fairfield on Mar. 22. Holy Cross travels to West Hartford, Conn. for a doubleheader with Hartford on Mar. 25.
Holy Cross opens up competition at home on Mar. 28-29 when it welcomes Patriot League opponent Bucknell to Freshman Field for a four-game series. The Crusaders will remain the home team on Apr.1 when they take on Boston College in a doubleheader before closing out the 10-game home stand against Patriot League opponent, Colgate, on Apr. 4-5.
The Crusaders will travel to Loudonville, N.Y. for a doubleheader with Siena on Apr. 7 and then play host to Army on Apr.11-12 for a four-game Patriot League series. Boston University will make the trip to Freshman Field on Apr. 16 for a doubleheader before Holy Cross hits the road for a four-game Patriot League matchup at Lafayette on Apr. 18-19.
Holy Cross' final home games will be on Apr. 21 against Central Connecticut and then the Crusaders will travel to Harvard on Apr. 23 for a doubleheader. Holy Cross will wrap up the regular season with a Patriot League four-game series at Lehigh on April 25-26.
The Patriot League Tournament will be held on May 7-9 at the site of the regular season champion. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the tournament.
