BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh defeated Holy Cross 8-0 in both games of the softball doubleheader Sunday at Kaufman Field. The Crusaders drop to 1-15 in the conference and 4-36 overall.
Natalie Cruz (Manalapan, N.J.) went 2-for-4 while Jayme Elliott (Gardena, Calif.) went 2-for-5 on the day. Amanda Audette (New Bedford, Mass.), Mandy Correale (Peabody, Mass.) and Courtney Nealon (Rochester, N.Y.) each had a hit.
In game one, Lehigh scored a run in the first inning and held the 1-0 lead until they added two more runs in the fourth inning (3-0). The Mountain Hawks finished the game in the fifth after scoring five runs to win 8-0. Lehigh totaled 13 hits while Holy Cross had four.
In the second game, the Mountain Hawks scored eight runs on nine hits. Lehigh started the game scoring three runs in the first two innings and finished the game combining for five runs in the fourth and fifth innings to end the game in five innings under the eight run rule.
The Crusaders return home to play Bucknell in a doubleheader Saturday starting at 12:00 at Freshman Field.
