BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh swept Holy Cross softball 8-0 and 5-4 in conference action Saturday at Kaufman Field. The Crusaders drop to 1-13 in the conference and 4-34 overall.
Amanda Audette (New Bedford, Mass.) went 3-for-3 while Natalie Cruz (Manalapan, N.J.) went 2-for-4 and Sheena Stangler (Bremerton, Wash.), Mandy Correale (Peabody, Mass.) and Amanda Webster (Kenmore, N.Y.) had one hit.
In game one, the Mountain Hawks held the Crusaders to just one run as they scored four runs in the first two innings on five hits and and four more in the last two innings on six hits to win 8-0 in six innings. Webster had the lone hit for Holy Cross.
In the second game both teams scored three runs in the first inning. Auddette, Cruz and Correale each had a hit for the Crusaders as they scored three runs on three hits and no errors. Lehigh scored one more in the second inning to take the 4-1 lead off one hit and one error. The game remained scoreless until the last inning as both teams scored one more but it was not enough for the Crusaders as the Mountain Hawks held on to win by one, 5-4.
The Crusaders stay in Bethlehem, Pa. to face Lehigh in a doubleheader to finish the four-game series Sunday starting at 12:00 p.m.
