Harvard Takes Two in Softball Doubleheader

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Harvard scored 15 runs on 18 hits to shutout the Holy Cross softball team, 3-0 and 12-0, Tuesday in a non-conference doublheader at Soldiers Field. The Crusaders drop to 2-27 overall while Crimson improves to 15-11 on the season.

Holy Cross had three hits in the doubleheader as senior Sheena Stangler (Bremerton, Wash.) went 2-for-4 and walked twice and junior Jayme Elliott (Gardena Calif.) had one hit.

In game one, Harvard scored in the first, second and fifth innings off of four hits and two walks. The Crimson held the Crusaders to just two hits from Stangler and Elliott to win, 3-0.

In the second game, Harvard scored seven runs in the third inning on six hits and one error. The Crimson scored five more runs on six hits in the fourth inning to go ahead 12-0 and held off the Crusaders to finish the game in five innings.

Holy Cross travels to play Lafayette in a doubleheader Saturday and Sunday starting at 12:00 p.m.
