Crusaders Softball Splits Games At Last Day At Rebel Spring Games

Kissimmee, Fla.- The Holy Cross softball team finished the last day of the Rebel Spring Games 1-1 with a 7-2 victory over Indiana-Purdue-Fort-Wayne and a 7-6 loss to Detroit to finish the tournament with a 2-8 record.

Against IU-PU-Fort Wayne the Crusaders had seven runs. Scoring was senior Jayme Elliott (Gardena, Calif.), freshman Keeley Seniuk (Phoenix, Ariz.) with two runs, freshman Caitlin Belanger (Fall River, Mass.), freshman Erin Fleming (Townsend, Mass.) with two runs and sophomore Amanda Audette (New Bedford, Mass.).

Pitching for the Crusaders was freshman Katie Alexander (Tigard, Ore.) making two strikeouts and giving up one run. Julie Girard (Montague, Mass.) pitched the fifth inning making one strikeout and giving up no runs. Finishing the game on the mound was Natalie Cruz (Manalapan, N.J.) making two strikeouts and giving up two runs.

Against Detroit the Crusaders had six runs. Scoring was freshman Sam Lenhardt (Duxbury, Mass.), senior Caitlin Deitz (Delmar, N.Y.) with two runs, Girard with two runs and Seniuk with a run.

On mound for the game was Alexander with two strikeouts and gave up four runs. Pitching the fourth inning was Cruz giving up three runs. Closing out the game was Belanger with two hits made.

The Crusaders compete again March 15 against Mouth Saint Mary's in Washington, D.C. Start time is set for 11:00 am.
