WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Sam Fregenti (Melville, N.Y.) and freshman Emily Jarvis (Hopkinton, Mass.) have been named to the College Sports Madness All-Patriot League first team and freshmen Colleen Ahern (Northbrook, Ill.) and Gennifer Durham (Abbeville, S.C.) have been selected to the College Sports Madness All-Patriot League second team, as announced by website.
Fregenti was named to the first team as a first baseman and led Holy Cross this season with a .482 on-base percentage and 18 walks. She was second on the team in batting average (.330) and slugging percentage (.511). A two-year captain, Fregenti set two single-season HC records including home runs (11) and slugging percentage (.691) as a sophomore. She sits atop the career Holy Cross softball record book in home runs (22), base on balls (62) and slugging percentage (.569). The senior can also be found in five of the remaining eight batting categories in the Crusader career record book as she is second in batting average (.345) and runs batted in (89), tied for second in doubles (38), fourth in hits (161) and 10th in at-bats (466).
Jarvis was named to the first team as an outfielder. She led the Crusaders with a .349 batting average and was one of just two players to start all 44 games on the year. She also posted a team-high 45 hits, 32 runs scored, 66 total bases, 18 stolen bases, .512 slugging percentage and nine multiple-hit games. Jarvis was second on the team with four home runs, 15 walks and a .447 on-base percentage. She also was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week twice and Player of the Week once.
Ahern earned a spot on the second team as a designated player. She was tied for the Holy Cross team lead this season in runs batted in with 21. She also finished second on the team with 34 hits. In Patriot League play, Ahern was first on the team in batting average (.283) and runs batted in (12) and tied for first in hits (17) and doubles (4). She was second on the team in conference action in total bases (21) and slugging percentage (.350). On the year, she was first on the team with six multiple-RBI games, held the longest streak for reaching base safely (14 games) and was tied for first with a six-game hitting streak.
Durham was selected to the second team as a pitcher. She led the team with seven wins on the season and compiled a team-low 3.27 earned run average. She pitched 130.2 innings in her rookie campaign and struck out 58 batters. In Patriot League action, Durham posted a team-low 1.68 ERA in 66.2 innings of work. She also threw the first ever seven inning perfect game in Holy Cross history on April 13 against Colgate.
