WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman softball player Emily Jarvis (Hopkinton, Mass.) has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league. Jarvis batted .467 in six games last week, including posting a .455 batting average in the opening four games of Patriot League play against Lafayette (3/30-3/31).
Jarvis recorded two of the eight Crusader hits in a doubleheader at Central Connecticut last Wednesday (3/27). The outfielder then scored eight runs on five hits in the four-game series with the Leopards, singling and scoring to lead-off games one and two and scoring the game-winning run in game three. Jarvis also scored the third of five runs in the top of the seventh inning of game two as the Crusaders rallied to a 6-4 victory. Jarvis stole a team-high four bases last week, all coming against the Leopards.
The rookie has batted .397 in 22 games so far this season, leading the team with 25 runs, 25 hits, 11 steals and 40 total bases. She is second on the team in home runs (three) and tied for second in doubles (six).
This is the second time this season Jarvis has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week. She was named Rookie of the Week and Player of the Week on March 11 after her performance at the Rebel Spring Games.
