Softball Selected Fourth In Patriot League Preseason Poll
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross softball team was picked to finish fourth in the 2012 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. Lehigh, which won its 11th Patriot League championship last season, was selected to finish first with 48 points and eight first-place votes. Last year's regular-season champion, Colgate, was selected to finish second with 44 points and the remaining four first place votes. Army was selected third with 30 points, followed by Holy Cross with 26 and Lafayette and Bucknell tied for fifth place with 16 points.
Holy Cross returns 13 letter winners from last year's team, which made the Patriot League tournament for the first time since 2003, and welcomes six newcomers to the 2012 squad. The Crusaders are scheduled to play 46 games, including starting the season on March 4 in Kissimmee, Fla. at the Rebel Spring Games where they will play 12 games.
