WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross junior first baseman Gwen Reimer (Pottsville, Pa.) has been named the Patriot League Softball Player of the Week announced today by the league. Reimer hit .476 (10-for-21) as the Crusaders went 4-2 last week, but she saved the best for the four-game set at Lafayette, going 8-for-15 at the plate in the weekend sweep at the Leopards. She batted .533 against Lafayette with five RBI, four runs scored, a double and a triple, and had the game-winning hit in the 12th inning of Sunday's nightcap to give Holy Cross a 3-2 win in Easton. She recorded four hits in two of the contests versus the Leopards, going 4-for-4 with two RBI in Saturday's 10-5 win and then went 4-for-6 in Sunday's second game. The junior first baseman from Pottsville, Pa., is fifth on the team with a .309 batting average and is third on the team with 11 RBI. This is Reimer's first Player of the Week award.
Holy Cross (10-12 overall, 4-0 Patriot League) returns to Worcester for a six-game home stand starting with a pair of games against Bryant on Tuesday, April 5. The Crusaders will open Patriot League play at Freshman Field with a four-game series against Army starting on Saturday, April 9 at 12:00 p.m.
