WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman pitcher Julia Barrett (Gardner, Mass.) has been named Patriot League Softball Rookie of the Week for her performance in last week's games at the Rebel Spring Games. Barrett collected a pair of victories and a save for Holy Cross last week. She hurled a complete game in a 7-2 victory over La Salle, yielding six hits and two runs (both earned) while walking two and striking out five. Her best start of the week was a five inning outing in an 8-0 blanking of Manhattan, in which she gave up four hits and one walk while punching out five in her second complete game of the season and first career shutout. She also pitched three innings of no-hit ball to pick up the save in Holy Cross' 6-3 win over Wagner. Barrett returned home from the spring trip with a team-leading 0.93 ERA in 15 innings of work.
Holy Cross (4-6 overall) returns to the diamond on Saturday, March 19 at the Stony Brook Invitational in Stony Brook, N.Y. The Crusaders are set to play Fairfield at 10:30 a.m., followed by Stony Brook at 12:30 p.m.
