WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior Caitlin Belanger (Fall River, Mass.) was named Patriot League Softball Player of the Week for her performance in Sunday's two games at the Rebel Spring Games. Belanger started Holy Cross' season-opening game against Indiana State on the mound, pitching a complete game but suffering a 2-1 defeat. She allowed five hits and two runs, both unearned, walked one and struck out four in seven innings of work. She also went one for three at the plate. In the second game of the day, an 8-3 loss to South Dakota, Belanger went three for four at the plate with a double, RBI and a steal with two runs scored. After Sunday's games, she was four for seven at the dish with a team-leading .571 batting average.
Holy Cross split a pair of games on Monday at the Rebel Spring Games, moving to 1-3 overall and will continue action on Tuesday, March 8 with a game against Pennsylvania at 1:00 p.m. and Wagner at 5:00 p.m.
