Holy Cross Softball Selected Fifth In Patriot League Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. The Holy Cross softball team was picked to finish fifth in the 2011 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. Last year's tournament champion, Bucknell, was selected first with 44 points and six first place votes. Army, the 2010 regular season champion, and Lehigh were voted second in the league with 40 points and three first place votes apiece. Colgate was selected fourth with 26 points, Holy Cross fifth (20 points) and Lafayette sixth (10 points) to round out the league. 

Holy Cross returns 12 letterwinners from last year's team and welcomes seven newcomers in 2011. The Crusaders are scheduled to play in 51 regular season games, including starting the season with 12 games in Kissimmee, Fla. at the Rebel Spring Games on March 6.
